Why You Avoid Mirrors, Photos, and Certain Clothes

A photo gets taken, and before you've even seen it, you already know you'll hate it.
That reaction rarely has much to do with how you actually look. It's a rule you've been applying to yourself for a long time, and rules like that don't come from nowhere.
Usually it traces back to a comment, a comparison, a moment you learned that how you looked was up for public evaluation, and some part of you never stopped bracing for the verdict.
